          Frederick J. Benson Town Beach

"With its classic soft sand, and wide topography, Town Beach is considered one of the most beatiful beaches in the world. It has nice surf for boogey boarders, body surfers, and beginning long boarders.

Its proximity to the town also makes it super convenient.

There are rentals for beach chairs, umbreallas, and boogey boards as well as beach grill for lunch."

          Mohegan Bluffs

"Recently voted one of the best beaches in New England, Mohegan Bluffs is a scenic location on the southern shore, known for its dramatic clay cliffs rising 150-200 feet above the Atlantic Ocean and named for a historic battle between indigenous peoples in the 16th century.

Some people say the beach at the base of the Bluffs is the most beautiful on the island, harboring a secluded, if rocky, place to swim and surf. It’s a bit of a climb to get there, however, with a set of 141 steps leading down to the sand. Make the effort and the payoff is spectacular, with clay cliffs that offer one of the most dramatic views of the Atlantic in all of Rhode Island, and a vista that can extend all the way to Montauk on the tip of Long Island. The steps are easy to find – there’s a plaque at the Bluff overlook, commemorating the history."

          Block Island Maritime Institute

"Block Island Maritime Institute is the ideal setting for day time fields trip.

The Nature Conservancy named Block Island “one of the last great places on earth.” One reason for this is the Block Island Maritime Institute.

BIMI was founded in 1997, when a group of summer and year-round residents came together to purchase the historic Smuggler’s Cove in the Great Salt Pond. BIMI has grown significantly from its humble beginnings and offers children’s programs and maritime activities. It has added an outdoor aquarium with five fantastic tanks filled with species from the Great Salt Pond and the waters surrounding Block Island. Come visit and Learn… to love Block Island.

Programs are available during the summer."

          Block Island Historical Society Museum

"The Museum has an extensive collection of significant artifacts related to Block Island’s history, from Manissean stone tools and points to early New England maritime and farming displays, colonial memorabilia, and enlarged vintage photographs capturing life during the Victorian age. Two floors of exhibits include fine furniture, Victorian collectibles, textiles, quilts, boat models, tools, fishing gear, historic maps, and other interesting displays."
